Notes |
- From "History of the Town of Hingham, Mass." by George Lincold 1982
"Thomas, first of the name in Hing., had a grant of land here in 1637; also other grants at subsequant dates. Nichols's Hill, refered to in early deeds prob. took its name from him. In the 11th of March, 1653, he added to his real estate by purchasing of Thomas Josselyn, et. al., dw.-house, barn, etc., with three acres of land, which had previously belonged to Stephen Lincoln, bounded by the "common" north and south; the "commons" and Thomas Nichols west; and Thomas Lincoln, husmandman, east.... "Farmer" Selectman 1676. Resided on Fort Hill St. a short distance from the West Hing. railroad station."
