Notes |
- From "The Wheeler Family of Cranfield, Eng. and Concord, MA and ..." M. Wheeler Molyneaux 1992, p. 218:
"There were two George Wheelers in Cranfield, one baptized 25 March 1605, son of Thomas, and the other George baptised 13 June 1613, son of John. It is difficult to identify the fathers, because in that period of time there were three Thomases and three Johns, whose children were being baptised. However, the proof for two distinct George Wheelers lies in records of the Cranfield Parish Register, which shows that each man had children baptized in the same years.
George Wheeler, who married 12 May 1628 Mary Studd, was called George of East Inn/End when his daughter Mary was baptised 31 March 1633. That date is only a few months from the baptism of Thomas, son of the other George, who was called of Wharley Inn/End. George of East End had two childred baptized in Cranfield: William, 8 Aug, 1630 and Mary 31 March 1633 called dau. of George of East End.
George Wheeler, who married 8 June 1630 Katherine Pin (Penn?) was called of Wharley End when his son Thomas was baptized/ THeir first three children, baptised in Cranfield, appeared later in Concord, MA with their parents, and were named with the other children in the will of their father. George of Wharley and his wife Katherine left Cranfield and settled in Concord, where he became prominent in the community and acquired a large amount of property. He died there between 28 Jan. 1684 and 2 June 1687, the dates his will was made and probated. His wife Katherine had predeceased him on 2 January 1684/5"
