"Christian was probably b. in "Schwabenland," modern Baden-Wurttemburg in Southern Germany, an agricultural area famous for wine-making; he may well be the Christian Gottlieb Thurnblaser baptised at Benningen, Neckar-Kreis, Wurttemberg, Germany, on 24 Aug. 1726, son of Johann Georg and Maria Dorothea (Bohm) Thurnblaser. He d. probably in Bethlehem Twp., Northampton Co., PA, between 30 Oct. 1781, when he married his second wife and 23 Jan. 1783, when his will was probated.
Gottleib is first found in PA records with the baptism of Paulus, son of Gottleib "Tornglaser" and his wife, b. 25 Sept. 1756 and baptised on 8 Oct. This baptism appears in the records of St. Paul's Lutheran and Reformed Church (commonly caller the Blue Church), Upper Saucon Twp., Northampton Co. (now Lehigh Co.)...."
