Elizabeth, wife to Abel Thomas, 8 Mo. 18, 1736. She was Elizabeth
Humphreys, and was married to Abel Thomas at Merion, 3 Mo. 19, 1693.
The Abel Thomas property, in Lower Merion, was near the Philadelphia City
Line, joining Old Blockley township. A Thomas homestead (remodelled) still
stands, on the old Merion and Darby road, near Overbrook Station.
Witnesses to the marriage of Abel Thomas of Merion, batchelor, and
Elizabeth Humphrey, spinster. Rees and Katharine Thomas; Daniel and John
Humphreys.
Among the children of Abel and Elizabeth Thomas was a daughter Jane.
4, 18, 1736. Thos. Owens, son of Owen Owens, of Sockham (Saucon) Bucks
Co. Pa. and Jane Thomas, dau. of Abel of Merion, at Merion Meeting
House. Wit: Mary and David Owen; Abel, Elizabeth, Richard, Margaret and
John Thomas.
Also, a daughter Sarah, who married James Moore, son of John Moore, of
Blockley, 9, 3, 1720.
A daughter Margaret who married Samuel Rhoads, son of Adam of Darby, 7,
30, 1737.
A son John, who married Jane Roberts, dau. of John Roberts of Merion, 8,
6, 1743.
A daughter Ellin who married Jonathan Shoemaker of Phila. at Merion
Meeting, 1,6,1746-7.
