- From "The Crowson Family of America" Dr. William Crowson 1979 LDS #1035856:
"Tobert Crowdson (Crowson) sailed from Nottingham, Eng, and settled in Accomack Co. in 1690. It is not known if Robert was from Nottingham or if he was married when he came to America. Various branches of the Crowson Family have stated that the family had a Germanic origin, although. Robert did sail from England. Mrs. Rose was able to trace many of the Crowsons in England back to a James Crowson who was b. in 1550 in Desford, Leichestershire, Eng. At this time, no connection has been established between Robert Crowson of Accomack Co. and the English Crowsons.
Robert Crowson had at least two children, both sons who were b. in Accomack Co., VA. William, the oldest, was b. in 1694, and his younger brother, Thomas Crowson, was b. in 1696."
