  • Notes
    • William Hatcher, Sr. married Anne Burton in 1682, a daughter of John Burton and they first settled on the plantation known as "Neck of Land". There is recorded in Henrico County, a deed dated May 1, 1700, to William Hatcher of "Neck of Land", conveying a tract called "Waring", situated on the south side of the James Riover. The records show that he moved to his plantation in 1701. and lived there until his death in 1736. His will was proved in Henrico County, December, 1736 and it names several children, the oldest of whom was William, Jr.

William Hatcher md. Anne Burton in 1682, a dau of John Burton, and they first settle on the plantation known as "Neck of Land". From S C Moore: Henrico Co records show the marriages of William Holden and William Hatcher on 25 September 1682 to daughters of John Burton. These daughters are known to have been Rachel and Anne, but the records do not say which one married which man. It has always been assumed, and "The Burton Chronicles" so state, that it was Rachel that married William Hatcher. However an examination of Henrico Co Wills and Deeds (1697-1794), p 4, reveals that on 1 August 1704 William Hatcher's wife's name was Anne, not Rachel, when she relinquished her dower rights on that date.
