      NOTE: Since Joseph died in 1630 Plymouth but his son was born in 1628

      NOTE: JOHN HARDING had six sons. He left property to Richard, Amos, John, JOSEPH, Samuel, and Oliver, as well as his brother, William, whose daughter, Mary, married Captain Sir Robert Gorges, the son of Fernando Gorges of England. Captain Sir Robert Gorges for his valiant service during the Venetian Wars was, in 1623, appointed by the Council of New England as "Governor of the Plymouth Colony". He was given a grant of land four miles wide by thirty miles long on Massachusetts Bay. He reached America and landed in Wassaguscus ( now Weymouth, Mass.) in 1623. Among his passengers were his wife, Lady Mary Harding Gorges and her cousins Richard Harding with his wife and son, John Harding with his wife and young sons and JOSEPH HARDING. After the breaking up of Wessaguscus JOSEPH HARDING went to Plymouth where he married MARTHA DOANE IN 1624.

      October 28, 1633 (PCR 1:17-18), [Deacon] John Done presented an inventory of the goodes & chattels of Martha Harding, deceased, who, in the behalfe of her son, was allowed the administrator of the said Martha."A true Inventory of the goods & Chattels of Martha Harding deceased as they were prised by James Hurst ffr Cooke & John Coke & presented upon Oath at a Court..." Mayflower Descendant, Vol. 1, p. 82, 197-198. Her inventory mentioned debts to three of her husband's brothers in England.
