Notes |
- From NEHGR 7/2006 p. 183:
"Lettice (Peacock) Alger, mother of Lettice (Alger) Eliot, was the daughter of Thomas Peacock, yeoman, of Waltham Holy Cross, Essex, who left a will dated 1 November 1583 and proved 4 December 1583. In the will, he left to 'Lettice my daughter 5 pounds, 1 joined bedstead, 3 curtains and a tester to it, 1 cushion, 1 little cupboard, my great kettle, and 2 painted cloths, all in her hands.' Thomas Peacock made a bequest to 3s. 4d. apiece to each of his son Christopher's children, son John's children, and daughter Lettice's children. Also named in the will were son Robert (to whom he left his cottage in Romeland in Waltham), son William, and grandson 'John son of William my son,' not yet of age. Daughters Lettice and Julian were identified only by their first names"
