    • From "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33"
      this identification, long in print, is based on the fact that she is the only Ellen in the 1623 land division, and there was no other known addition to the Plymouth population in the next few years.
      In the 1623 Plymouth land division, Ellen Newton was granted one acre as a passenger on the Anne in 1623 [PCR 12:6].

      There seems to be great debate about Ellen's maiden name. She was called "Mrs. Ellen Newton, widow" when she emigrated aboard the ship "Ann" in 1623 at age 25. Many think her name was Worden, dau. of Peter Worden
