Notes from the The Jerseyman Magazine (vol 3 no 4 June 1897) taken from records at the LHS

On the Parish Resister of the German Reformed Church, Alexandria, Hunterdon, CO., NJ. I find frequent mention of the Anders-Enders name. Enders occurs the more frequently - some 30 times; Anders, 6 or more times; Andrea, 3 times; and Endris, once. The first mention is on July 1, 1763.

Paul Anders-Enders and his wife Gertrude Catarina Dels were parents of an increasing family. Her name is variously given as Gertrude, Gertraud, and, Gertraut. There is one Gerhard Enders which may be meant for Gertraud. The children were:

      Jo. Herbert b. 1763, Margreta b. 1767, Gertraud b. 1769, Abraham b. 1771, Paulus b. 1773, Wilhelm b. 1775, Ana b. 1776, Adam b. 1779.

There is also Herbert Anders-Enders and wife Elisabetha, parents of two children: Gertraut, b. 1783, and Anna, b. 1785. Also a Jacob Enders and wife Catharina, parents of Elisabetha, b. 1784. This Herbert is prob. the Jo. Herbert, b. 1763, and the Jacob may be an older brother, b. before the register was started (in 1763).

...This register began on June 2, 1763 and ended on March 29, 1802.. The last Enders entry was on Aug 8, 1785. Presumably they moved away soon after that.

Paul Enders was an elder in this church in 1780; Maria, in 1775, and Jacob Enders in 1782 were confirmed there.
